Process Flow
Pre-preparation: according to the design drawings of aluminum shell, determine the suitable aluminum alloy materials (such as 6061 and 7075), and complete the debugging of CNC machining equipment, the manufacture of fixtures, and the preparation of chemical reagents and equipment required for hard anodic oxidation.
CNC machining: The aluminum alloy blank is milled, drilled and turned according to the programmed path by CNC milling machines, lathes and other equipment, and the aluminum shell meeting the requirements of dimensional accuracy and geometric tolerance is formed.
Post-processing: deburring and polishing the edges and corners of the aluminum shell processed by numerical control, followed by ultrasonic cleaning to remove impurities such as cutting fluid and metal chips on the surface and thoroughly drying.
Pretreatment before hard anodic oxidation: put the cleaned aluminum shell into alkaline solution for degreasing, then remove the oxide film on the surface by acid cleaning, and finally wash it with water to ensure that the shell surface is free of oil stains, oxide layers and other substances that interfere with the oxidation reaction.
Hard anodic oxidation: The pretreated aluminum shell is used as an anode, put into an electrolyte such as sulfuric acid, and a constant DC current is applied to form an alumina film with uniform thickness and high hardness on the surface of the shell, and the electrolyte temperature, current density and oxidation time are strictly controlled during the process.
Post-oxidation treatment: firstly, the oxidized aluminum shell is washed with water to remove the residual electrolyte on the surface, then the hole sealing treatment (such as hot water sealing and high-temperature steam sealing) is carried out to block the micropores of the alumina film, so as to improve the corrosion resistance and wear resistance of the shell, and finally, the appearance inspection and size retest are carried out.

Why is hard anodizing performed on the surface of CNC aluminum parts?

Aluminum hard anodizing (Hard Anodizing, referred to as "hard oxide") can form an oxide film of 5-150μm on the surface of aluminum alloy (the thickness of ordinary anodized film is usually ≤20μm), with a hardness of up to HV300-500 (close to high carbon steel). The oxide film has a porous structure and can penetrate lubricating oil, which is suitable for sliding friction scenarios (such as the mating surface of the mechanical housing). In addition, it can also withstand salt spray and acid-base environments (salt spray test can reach more than 500 hours).
