CNC turning POM bushing are high-performance engineering plastic bearing components precision-machined on CNC lathes. Made from polyoxymethylene (POM), these bushings are renowned for their excellent dimensional stability, low friction coefficient, and high mechanical strength. These bushings feature tight tolerances on the inner diameter, outer diameter, and length, ensuring a perfect fit in various mechanical assemblies, supporting, reducing friction, isolating, and protecting shaft components. Compared to traditional injection-molded bushings, the CNC turning process offers greater design freedom and more precise dimensional control, making them particularly suitable for small-batch, high-precision, or custom-tailored production needs.

 

Production Process:

  1. First, the CAD file of the part needs to be generated, and then it should be converted into CAM to further transform it into G-code that can be processed by CNC machines.
  2. The next step is to cut the POM workpiece to a specific size so as to place it on the machine tool.
  3. After cutting the POM workpiece to the appropriate size, place it on the machine tool and fix it with a fixture to ensure it does not move during the processing.It is important to ensure that the POM parts is firmly fixed in position, as the CNC cutting tool moves with preset coordinates, and any change in the workpiece position or alignment will have a negative impact on the quality of the part.
  4. After ensuring the stability of the POM parts, use a professional cutting tool fixed on the CNC machine to remove the material from the workpiece.
    The recommended cutting tool is a universal flat-end milling cutter, as it is more efficient when processing plastics.
  5. Finally, when processing POM, the CNC machine tool is often vacuumed to ensure that the material debris does not clog the milling cutter.

About POM

 

This product primarily utilizes polyoxymethylene (POM), commonly referred to as Acetal or Polyoxymethylene in the European and American markets. The two most commonly used commercial grades are: POM-C (copolymer): Such as DuPont's Delrin® 100 series or BASF's Ultraform®. Copolymers offer improved thermal and chemical stability and a wide processing window, making them the preferred choice for CNC machining. POM-H (homopolymer): Such as DuPont's Delrin®. Homopolymers offer higher mechanical strength and stiffness, but are slightly less thermally stable than copolymers.

Poor acid resistance: Not suitable for strong acid and oxidizing environments.

Poor high temperature resistance: Continuous operating temperature is typically between -40°C and 100°C.

Poor UV resistance: Long-term outdoor exposure may cause performance degradation.
